please help! i’m migrating from localhost to remote. FTP files transferred fine. i imported the database from my local phpmyadmin (updated file and site text).

now i’m getting this message.

any idea what i did wrong?

you are getting this error because WP is unable to establish a database connection. Now the reason why wp is unable to establish a database connection can vary.

Sounds like you just need to change the database connection details in the wp-config.php file on the remote site. They are probably different from your local connection details.

Have you changed your remote server database details in wp-config.php ?

You need to modify database name,user and password etc.

Hi

shandiz has sent you a good link as it explains the issue in details.

As I know you should enter the correct database details in your wp-config file, as you are on localhost, there will be different logins for database and now on your hosting it will be different
