Error establishing a database connection with 1and1

    Hello,

    I am trying to install wordpress on 1and1 but I always get the same error message concerning the database.

    I have already install wordpress without problem on another hosting service. For this one, I have checked username. pw, database adress on the wp-config.php file, I have also add and remove the .htaccess that forces php5 (enven if I have php 5.3.5).

    The server I have is a windows server from 1nan1, I already have a domain that points on a folder with html pages and the default subsomaine (id username.onlinehome.fr) is pointing on the folder with the wordpress files.

    I don’t know what else I can do? Any suggestion?

    Error connecting to your database is common, but it isn’t necessarily a problem with wordpress itself.
    – Double check your wp-config.php file settings for the database name, database username and database password. This is where most errors occur.
    – Check that you don’t need to change the database host from “localhost” to something else. You can get that info from your hosting provider.
    – Check you have actually created a database with the same database name as is in your wp-config.php file.
    – Last, but not least, if all that information is correct your database probably has a problem with it, and you may need to contact your hosting provider if the database server is online / if they have any other problem at their end, or they made any changes to your account, or if there are any limitations/restrictions, if the hosting package is set to Windows and not Linux, etc.

    Hello,
    thanks for the reply.

    I have already checked the wp-config file and changed localhost for DBname.db.1and1.com (it’s this adresse with 1and1), and the database is marked as ready in 1and1 control panel.

    I have already sent them a message but still waiting the reply… lot of people have this problem with 1and1 so I ll post the solutino when I ll get it.

    Sounds like their DB server is down.

    how do i access the wp-config file to check the details?

    wp-config should be in the root of your WP install. You can acess it via FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    This is a very old thread.
    My suggestion to you (@lyndadurrant) is to start a new thread to get the full attention to your issue you deserve.
