# Error establishing a database connection – AWS Lightsail Instance

 * Hi, my website was running fine and suddenly it stopped working while I was working
   on the backend.
    I am seeing an error that says ‘Error establishing a database
   connection’ for the last two days.
 * My site is hosted on AWS Lightsail (Bitnami). I tried everything but nothing 
   has worked yet. I have been asking in Bitnami support forums too but haven’t 
   got a response.
 * I checked using the SSH and found out that ‘MySql could not start’. Everything
   else is okay.
    I also have enough space on my disk so that shouldn’t be a problem
   too.
 * I understand from my searches that this issue has a lot of occurrences and many
   people have been struggling with it. However, there are multiple reasons for 
   this error to appear and I am unable to pinpoint what is causing the error for
   me.
 * Can someone please help?

 * It looks like you messed up with the db. If you have a backup of it, try to reinstall
   it through phpmyadmin. After that, make sure the credentials are the right ones.

 * [@websitesseller](https://wordpress.org/support/users/websitesseller/) don’t 
   think AWS Lightsail has phpadmin since it runs on bitnami.
