# ‘Error establishing a database connection’

 * Hi there!
 * Lately, quite often my website shows ‘Error establishing a database connection’.
   I contacted my hosting provider, and they told me to ‘properly close all database
   connections.’ However, they could not explain this any more than that to me. 
   My technical knowledge is quite limited. Could someone explain what is meant 
   by this? My hosting works with DirectAdmin.

 * Honestly, with the info provided it sounds like your hosting is not capable of
   the traffic your website is receiving. It might be time to consider moving to
   a new hosting plan and/or provider.
