Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks – Paul

  • Hiya,

Normally when you get this error it means that something’s up with your wp-config file credentials.

Look for DB_Name, DB_USER, and DB_PASSWORD defines in wp-config and make sure those match what your actual database credentials are.

A quick way to verify would be to see if they match your old install (if there’s anyway to retrieve a copy of that).

Also, when you did the move did you make changes to the database so that everything points to blog.e3labs.org.

Here’s a tutorial a colleague of mine wrote up on how to do a database search and replace:
    http://thewpvalet.com/blog/2012/08/16/heres-a-quick-way-to-search-and-replace-your-database-after-migration/

Let me know if that works for ya. Thanks!

i have three databases only one of them brought up anything. it has the right theme and a few of my edits to the theme but my blog posts are not there and i cant log in to wordpress. when i try it again comes up with the error.

do i need to move the “WordPress” folder somewhere? or do i have to change the database in some other files?

im afraid to do the search and replace cause i do not want to lose what i have now and my main domain and another sub domain are not done through wordpress. are you sure it is safe to do that tutorial?

    hope that makes sense
    thanks for your speedy reply

I tried the tutorial but i got

In the process of replacing “e3l1235808113947” with “e3l1236203142861” we scanned 11 tables with a total of 177 rows, 0 cells were changed and 0 db update performed and it all took 0.108175 seconds.

Is there specific places i can manually change this to get back the changes i did through wordpress, my blog and my wordpress access or am i out of luck?

    Thanks!

You can put everything back and revert the changes in your wp-config.php file manually, yes. But there’s no rollback functionality in WordPress, if that’s what you were looking for.

In other words i want to get back the Pages, Blog and Theme options from the wordress site I uninstalled or is that gone for good?

Is the original database still there?

    Thread Starter wphelpplz

    (@wphelpplz)

It’s still under mysql on godaddy but when my files were linked to it, it comes up with “Error establishing a database connection”

    Thread Starter wphelpplz

    (@wphelpplz)

i can only link to one of my three databases without that message

And is that the correct database for your site?

    Thread Starter wphelpplz

    (@wphelpplz)

    not my original one no.

    (@wphelpplz)

is there a way i can transfer the info from my old database to my working one?

Why not just edit your wp-config.php file to point to the old database?

    Thread Starter wphelpplz

    (@wphelpplz)

i did and it comes up with the “Error establishing a database connection”

Check the details for that database with your hosts.

I did they gave us help but nothing worked looks like were going to start the blog over. only had a few posts so its ok

Thanks for your help though all.
