# Error establishing a database connection

 * I accidentally deleted the MySql databases associated with several of my websites
   that have WordPress 2.5.1 blogs!
 * Oh, joy!
 * Now, when I load any of the websites’ URLs, I get a “Error establishing a database
   connection” message.
 * Any help as to how to restore the databases and get my blogs back would be most
   appreciated!

 * If you have back-ups of the databases, follow the instructions here: [Restoring Your Database From Backup](http://codex.wordpress.org/Restoring_Your_Database_From_Backup).
 * If you exported the contents of your sites using WordPress, follow the instructions
   here: [Importing Contents](http://codex.wordpress.org/Importing_Content#WordPress).
 * If you don’t have any back-ups, see if your webhost has a back-up of their MySQL
   server. They might be able to restore the DB’s for you. (There might be a fee
   involved.)
 * If you don’t have any back-ups and your web host is unable to help, then you 
   will likely have to start over. So, good luck.

 * My website has been restored and is functional again!
 * Thank goodness I had done a full backup, using the WordPress Backup plugin!
