Error establishing a database connection (4 posts)

I first downloaded a new version 3.5 of wordpress, unzipped and uploaded to my server. Then created my 2nd wordpress database on my godaddy site and went to the phpMyadmin and could see that the DB was created correctly and setup.
Next I went to the url and got the wp-admin/setup-config page. I entered the CORRECT information and got:
"Error establishing a database connection". All the information I put in is correct as I have repeated this about 10 times now.
I know the database server is running because I just loaded my other wordpress site and it works fine.
Next I opened the wp-config-sample document and again typed in the correct information renamed the file and uploaded that to the server, then went to the url and got:
"Error establishing a database connection" only this time the error message came up larger on screen h1 size.
I don't know what else to try but am most frustrated with all of this.

    Hi gbrentf

Could you advise what value you used for 'DB_HOST'? I believe GoDaddy does not use the standard 'localhost'

    Hi toherangi,

Thanks for your quick response. Yes in my darkest memories I think that is the problem that godaddy does not like the local host thing. I did go into the account and found the database details that gave the host name and replaced the local host with that but still got an error that it can not connect with the database. But ya know what after wasting most of the day with this I really think it's a godaddy glitch. I'm just gonna give up on this and do the quick install from the godaddy site like I did the last time and it worked. Thanks for your response but I have wasted enough of my day on this simple problem. I give up!

You're welcome. I certainly applaud your efforts at doing a manual install. I'm sorry I wasn't able to help you sooner.
