# Error : could not create user

 * Hello,
 * My wordpress doesn’t allow any user change.
 * I can not add any new user and they can not register. I tried to remove theme&
   plugin and tried different login plugin…. nothing helped.
 * Everytime I try to add a user I got that message “could not create user”
 * Any idea how to solve this ?

 * Looks like you have already tried basic troubleshooting.
 * – Please check the error logs on your server for any clue and see why it’s failing.
   If you need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that.
 * – If you cannot find error logs or if you don’t find any helpful info in the 
   error logs, try **MANUALLY** updating. [Download WordPress](https://wordpress.org/download/)
   again and unzip it. Access your server via [SFTP or FTP](https://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients),
   or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting
   provider’s documentation for specifics on these), and delete then replace your
   copies of everything on the server **except** the wp-config.php file and the /
   wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively
   replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Please
   read the [Manual Update](http://codex.wordpress.org/Updating_WordPress#Manual_Update)
   directions first.

 * Thanks for your help,
 * I have access to the log files but can’t really understand them.
 * I tried the manual update, without any plugin or special theme. I just upload
   the wordpress install with my wp-config file and try to register a new user, 
   smae result “could not create user” message.
 * Can it come from the database ?
