Try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.

Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

If that makes no difference, try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

The function referred to is part of Press This. The functionality of Press This was moved into a plugin in this release. You may need to install this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/press-this/

That being said, there should be better graceful failing if the function is not defined.

    Hi @nookdk

Please follow the step outlined by @macmanx in the first reply, your site update didn’t complete as it should, so you’ll have to follow the steps to do a manual update in this case. (If you are uncomfortable with doing so, you may reach out to your hosts support, they might be able to help you, but there’s no guarantee of this).

I know this i a lot to ask for, but im totaly off in this.

Can someone help med do that, i will mess it up my self…
Im just tryning to have a fun website, but i not sure what to do with this. 🙂

    Regards Matt

They are safe if you follow the steps as outlined, and they are a necessary part of the troubleshooting process.

Why reinstall? The problem could be simply due to one or more improperly installed core files by the automated updater.

Why reset plugins? The problem could be caused by a function conflict introduced by one or more plugins.

Why reset the theme? The problem could be caused by a function conflict introduced by your theme.

These are the three most common causes of a problem like this after an update, and without ruling them out, there’s really no way of knowing where to look next.

I recommend trying them yourself, asking your hosting provider’s support to try them for you, or hiring someone from https://jobs.wordpress.net/ or https://jetpack.pro/ (and do not accept any hire or direct access offers posted to these forums).

Thanks it did as u told and now its up and running.. 🙂
    You are the best. 🙂

But there is 1 thing tho….

    It ask me to
The automatic update of WordPress failed – Please try again now.

Is it okay to uddate it now or?`

Odd, if you followed the re-install steps above, that’s essentially a manual update. 🤔

Yeah, in this case hit that “try again” option and see what happens.

Its gone now.. Kind of odd.
But thanks a lot, you saved my day. 🙂
