Hi everyone , this is my first time posting here.

Let me explain what I’m doing and what I’m getting.

I have this website that I NEED to transfert to another host, I did this thing more than 20 times before and never had a problem.

so what I did with this website was:

    – Download all website files from the CPANEL
    – Downloading the website database from phpyadmin.
    – Creating another databse in the new host and uploading the old one in it.
    – uploading the website files in the new host
    – opening the website and entering the database informations (name, user, pass)

That’s the things that needs to be done right ? But when I try to log to my website the login infos are not working, WORST I can’t find anything there, no posts no images nothing.

I feel like I missed something here so I’m going to explain why I want to move my website, few days ago all the website I had on the old hosts were hacked. YES hacked, I logged in CPANEL and found that all the websites were injected by viagra links (spam) it realy distroyed all my business, I had there 3 ecommerce websites and more than 6 blogs, anyway, I had before all websites files downloaded to my computer but not the databases.

Now what I tried to do first is to reupload the website in the same host first(using the files I have in my computer) Guess what, NOT WORKING. At the moment I’m blocked , I can’t do anything.

    Please help.

If you need more informations I’m here.

    Thanks everyone

  • Hello, kdbbdk, & welcome to the WordPress support forum. Firstly, you don’t provide us a site url, which would be *really* helpful in diagnosing your problem. Without it, it’s difficult to know what’s going on. Nor do you provide any error messages, assuming they exist.

One thing that does strike me is that your paths might be different between the 2 hosts, & you might therefore need to do a search & replace in the database to get that right. But what I really think is happening is that the upload of files was simply incomplete. Were I you, I’d upload files only from WordPress & from any theme/plugin vendors you use, given the hack. I’d also replace files in your uploads directory & other user content w/known good files on your computer. In other words, I would not rely on any files from the old website, if possible.

I’ll be monitoring as much as I can throughout the day, but there are other very capable volunteers here who can help if I’m not available. I’m sorry this is happening to you, & I hope we can help you get this fixed quickly.

You might also want to try using the Duplicator plugin. It is made for experienced users but makes the task of moving sites much easier.

    Thanks guys for your replies.

Actually the files I have used were used in the same host for the first time. When the website was down I reuploaded them in the same host so I don’t think the difference in the path is the problem. Also in the other host I have only uploaded the plugin and theme folder and downloaded a fresh copy of wordpress.

what make things worst is that I did the same thing weeks before and it worked. But now it doesnt

Please recheck your wp-config.php. It’s wanting to reinstall WordPress, which you say is not necessary. So that leads me to believe your credentials are not correct.

Yes I know it asks for that and when I enter my database name user and pass it give me a new blog without any post, page or anything.

kdbbdk, please check your database using a text editor & ensure that the content you expect to be there is in fact present. Also, are you sure the DNS has propagated sufficiently? I suspect it has, but…

kdbbdk, I’m sorry, but providing private contact information is not permitted on these forums.

    kdbbdk, are you sure that:
    1) you’ve provided the proper credentials? That includes making certain that if the hosting provider requires your username plus the database name, you’ve entered that.
    2) You’ve made certain that the table name is the same as that of your previous database?

Hi guys, great news. I managed to recover the website.

The problem was the table prefix (as jackie mentionned) I needed to enter in configration step.

Now I have another problem: the wp-admin page is blank and whenever I acess wp-login.php the admin login infos are not working .

I tried to change the plugin folder name, delete the template but nothing.

How can I get it to work

    Thanks everyone (specialy jackie)

Hello again, kdbbdk. Firstly, I’m glad you recovered your site. I figured the table prefix was what was occurring. I’ve seen it before.

You can reach a login page by using
    http://www.leilaboularbah.com/wp-login.php
It appears you’ve got another login plugin that’s taking over the function of the WordPress login. It’s clearly not redirecting to wp-admin as expected. Looks like it may have something to do w/forums. I’m thinking what I’m seeing is French, I’m terrible at it, my husband is somewhat better, but it seems it’s maybe a BBPress login or something similar.

I was afraid when we hadn’t heard from you that you were mad at me for not providing private contact info. I would have, but it’s against forum policies, & I try to remain in the good graces of the WordPress community. I’m sure you understand.

No Jackie how can I be mad at you, actually I’ve never got any detailed help in anything more than here from you, Im so gratful really, now the website is up thanks to you.

For the plugins this is the list of what I have on the website at the moment :

    http://prnt.sc/ci7lkk

I renamed the plugins directory to pluginsss but still the same problem

From wp-login.php I tried my login and password but they are not working. I even sent a request to change my password but never got an email.

    (@kdbbdk)

Well, I did something and it worked.

I deleted all the files on cpanel except wp-content and reploaded fresh ones.

Added the database name, passwords, table prefix and everything is working now

Thanks Jackie for your help !!

Well, kdbbdk, I’m glad things are working now. If that is the case, then if you would please be so kind as to mark the topic resolved, so the volunteers here will know you’ve been helped & can go on to help others, that would truly be appreciated. But don’t hesitate to come back here again if you need assistance. Perhaps our paths will cross again. & if you ever feel that you can help someone else, then please don’t hesitate to do that also. I believe, in fact, that we even have a French forum.

So happy we were able to help you.
