# Error Activating 2FA

 * Hey, I’m receiving an error while trying to activate 2FA.
 * The code provided does not match the expected value. Please verify that the time
   on your authenticator device is correct and that this server’s time is correct.
    - Wordfence Network Time2024-01-08 09:26:05 UTC
    - Server Time2024-01-08 09:26:05 UTC
    - Wordfence Network Time Offset+ less than 1 second
    - NTP Time Offset+ less than 1 second
 * While I was using a different security plugin to have 2FA I didn’t experience
   any similar issues.
 * Maybe you have any insights about this issue?

   out to us about this issue.
 * Have you tried any other authenticator apps such as Google Authenticator (as 
   one possible example)? The reason I ask is that when the time offset seems fine,
   we have seen specific authenticators give different results. Confirming whether
   another authenticator also fails would be good to determine the cause.
 * If the issue persists on a different authenticator app, please send a diagnostic
   report to **wftest @ wordfence . com**. You can find the link to do so at the
   top of the **Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics** page. Then click on **“Send Report
   by Email”**. Please add your forum username where indicated and _respond here
   after you have sent it._

 * Thanks for your insights. Indeed, switching to another authenticator app saved
   the day. I was using Google app at first but I switched to microsoft.
