[resolved] Error 500 after modifying site location (4 posts)

My website is a bit broken - I keep getting an internal server error (500).

I have my index.php file in a different location to the root. I have bridged WordPress with phpBB using WP-United, however I didn't edit any wordpress files to do this, and it works fine. My website's index.php is in the diretory http://www.mysite.com/phpBB3 and the wordpress installation is in the directory http://www.mysite.com - the site root.

My site has been working perfectly fine, however I recently changed the 'blog location' entry to mysite.com/phpBB3/index.php to mysite.com/phpBB3/ - removing the index.php

This gave a 500 error, so I reverted back to the original setting, but the error still remained. Alas, I looked at my .htaccess file, which looked like this:

    # BEGIN WordPress
    # END WordPress

Oh dear. So I denied wordpress access to .htaccess, and changed to permalink structure to date and time based. I got the .htaccess code to enter manually, so I did:

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /phpBB3/
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /phpBB3/index.php [L]
    # END WordPress

    Yet I still have a 500 error.

If anyone could help, please do!!!

Just think I also might add that I have tried adding the code to the .htaccess in the main directory as well - still didn't work.

I have just changed the site's directory, changed it in the .htaccess file and in the wordpress config, but the new directory got a 500 error as well.

OK - It's sorted - I deleted my .htaccess file, went into the permalink structure page and selected the default mode.
