# Error 429

 * Dear Support Team,
 * I have installed a free Jetpack plugin to my site. It seems to work properly 
   with the Sitestats function. But when I try accessing the setting menu, it shows
   under the menu “Failed fetching site data from WordPress.com. If the problem 
   persists, try reconnecting Jetpack.” 
   Then I tried to click restore connection,
   it shows “There was an error reconnecting Jetpack. Error: 429”

 * Thanks for getting in touch about this, happy to help here!
 * I checked your Jetpack connection, and I can see that there is in fact and issue
   with the connection. Could you please the the following?
    - ensure our IP range is fully in the allow list for your servers: [https://jetpack.com/support/how-to-add-jetpack-ips-allowlist/](https://jetpack.com/support/how-to-add-jetpack-ips-allowlist/)
    - check for any security/caching plugins you may have enabled, and try temporarily
      disabling them to see if it fixes the problem. 
    - search for any firewall on your server-side that might be blocking the communication
      with the xmlrpc.php file – your host should be able to help you with that.
 * Once these are done, please [reconnect Jetpack](https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack/)
   and let us know how it goes.
 * In the future please do not share any sensitive data in the public forum as it’s
   inherently insecure. I will ask the mods to redact it.
