 * I have the files upload to my website and entered everything correctly in the
   config file. When I direct my browser the the folder contain the files, I see
   about 20 files and couple of directories. I navigate to the install.php file
   and all it does it gives me an Error 404 page. I am using 1and1.com for my hosting.
   I am on a Microsoft hosting plan. I have ready many tutorials that say I should
   use linux hosting. But nothing I have read says that it WON’T work on microsoft.
   Am I going to have to request 1and1.com change my hosting plan? Is that my only
   option?

 * oke. first problem is thats nots quite a url you want to use.
 * you want this:
 * gallery2.brianpettitphotography.com
 * or this:
 * [http://www.brianpettitphotography.com](http://www.brianpettitphotography.com)
 * right?
 * which btw, I just tested this:
 * [http://gallery2.brianpettitphotography.com/](http://gallery2.brianpettitphotography.com/)
 * and you get the same result.

 * [http://www.brianpettitphotography.com](http://www.brianpettitphotography.com)
   is my current website. I don’t want to change it until I have something I like
   better in wordpress. I had created a subdomain a while back so I decided to use
   it to test WordPress. I have the same information uploaded to [http://www.brianpettitphotography.com/blog](http://www.brianpettitphotography.com/blog)
   with the same result, page not found when clicking on install.php.
 * 1and1.com uses MS SQL for their windows hosting, wordpress used MySQL, is that
   the problem?

 * It seems that php is not working properly. If it was, just visiting your site
   should display a web page, not a list of your files. Either that or your index
   page is not set to function as a default file. You might want to contact your
   host and see if there is something they can do to make that work for you.

 * if you are trying to use an mssql db it will not work – must be mysql
 * 1and1 will switch you to linux for free – I would advise it as all software will
   run better and faster
 * also, it looks as if index.php is not enabled for your site

 * I made the switch to linux hosting. I uploaded a new copy of wordpress with the
   new database information. Still the same. Here is the site:
 * [http://www.brianpettitphotography.com/wordpress](http://www.brianpettitphotography.com/wordpress)
 * How do I make sure index.php is enabled?

 * I get a 403 forbidden message. Check that all your files and folders have the
   right permissions. Folders should have 755 permissions and files should have
   644.
