error 404 / not found

  • Hi,

I’m quite new to WP, set everything up about 10 days ago, logged onto my dashboard a couple of times to play with the themes…
I haven’t changed any setting, haven’t moved any files, but for some reason this morning I can’t access my blog anymore.
When I go on mysite.com/wp-login.php, I get a 404 Not Found error page, “The requested URL /wp-login.php was not found on this server.”

I tried to reset the wp-config.php doc (although nothing was wrong with it) and uploaded agin on my server, but it didn’t change anything.

    Can anyone help?

    Many thanks

Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

And your site is/was at sandiscovery.com/wordpress

I’ve just untinstalled and reinstalled wordpress completely, but it didn’t change anything (i didn’t loose much, the blog wasn’t even started yet) but it’s still not working though!…

Could it come from the host? (sent them an email JIC)…

It’s quite possible that your site was inadvertently wiped out by your hosts. When you re-installed, did you use a fresh database?

No, I can only have one free database in my package, so used the one already created. Following your message and tried to delete it and reset it, but it won’t let me do that 🙁

Ok, managed to delete and create a fresh database…changed all info in wp-config.php file, uploaded on server, still not working…

I went here http://sandiscovery.com/wordpress/wp-admin and found wordpress error may be you are still working on it. Try reinstalling your fresh theme copy.

Same happened with me earlier and I reinstall the theme and the site was recovered.
