# Error 404

 * Yesterday and this morning, when trying to update a post, I keep getting error
   404 Page not found.

 * Have you recently made any changes to your permalink settings? In the off chance
   that you have, you might try reverting back to the default permalink settings.

 * 404 indicates failure to communicate with the server. Reasons for this failure
   to communicate with the server can vary.
    – it could be configuration issue –
   it could be memory issue – it could be permalinks issue, try reviewing this:

   it could be optimization issue – it could be a conflict with plugin: try [resetting the plugin folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)–
   it could be a conflict with theme: try switching to the default theme for a moment
   via FTP and see if that resolves the issue. – check for .htaccess file presence
   and check if the default wordpress mod-rewrite code is there or not. There are
   times when .htaccess file is not writable or gotten deleted – Check the server
   error log for your hosting account for any specific error message. Ask your webhost
   for assistance to locate them.

 * HI Tara and thanks for replying. I got some help and it did seem to be a server
   issue. Now I have more problems but I have posted them elsewhere. Thanks
