# Error 404

 * When I try to get to the site I get an error message:
    404 – Page not found. 
   Anyone have any ideas?

 * And? Is this a new site ? Was it ever working? Did you change something? Looks
   like you moved a site from WordPress.COM?

 * The Drum and Fife Patriot part of it is new. The original blog is [http://www.auggiesblog.com](http://www.auggiesblog.com).
   I was adding this new one to my HostGator account. I have been using Alex Sysoef’s,”
   Expert WordPress” free installer and following his installation video. Everything
   went well when I installed the initial blog and this second one seemed to be 
   going well until I tried to access per what the video instructions and I get 
   the 404 error message.

 * So you are trying to install a second, separate installation of WordPress in 
   a sub-directory?
 * Have you asked HostGator for help – as this seems to be a bit scrambled up – 
   neither URL shows a WP site at this point.

 * 404 Error comes when you change permalink of you wordpress blog. This is one 
   of the important part of every Blog and i suggest you change you permalink, unless
   it effort you crawl and indexing

 * Thank you all for responding. I had HostGator restore all my files as they were
   on Sept. 29. That puts the original blog back online and should eliminate the
   trouble I have with the second one at this time.
