    Hello,

After updating Download Monitor (from version 4.4.4 to 4.4.5); all download links are no longer working. I looked in the .htacces file, as indicated in another post; but there is nothing about Download Monitor.
    I read your FAQ => https://www.download-monitor.com/kb/custom-template-upgrading/
But it doesn’t answer my problem.

    Can you help me?
Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Both are HTTPS on my client’s site. They do have WordPress in a subdirectory, so the WordPress Address is different from the Site Address.

I’ll add that their site is now working properly on version 4.4.11.

    Hi @giucu91,

Yes, the site uses HTTPS URLs throughout. It was migrated many years ago so this is not a recent change.

    Thanks

    Hello @ianpegg,

Can you check the download that it’s not working to see if the File URl under Versions it’s with https ?

    Thank you,
    George.

    Hi @giucu91,

I’m experiencing the same issue on v4.4.11.

None of the downloads have redirect to file checked and never have. I’ve cleared the cache, refreshed the permalinks, and checked the file permissions. Any ideas?

    Cheers,
    RS

    Hello @giucu91,

I’ve just updated to 4.4.13 and am happy to report that downloads are now working as expected again.

All file URLs were using HTTPS transit, so that was not the cause of the issue.

Thanks for your help with this.

    Hello @giucu91,

I’m sorry to report that the latest update (4.4.14) reverts the fix in 4.4.13. Download URLs are now redirecting to the homepage with a 302.

I can confirm that the URLs in question are known to work correctly. Our staging environment uses a clone of the codebase and database and is exhibiting the above regression after the update, whereas our live site (which is still running 4.4.13) is still behaving as expected.

    Please, could you advise?

    Hello @ianpegg ,

It seems like is something else. We didn’t revert what we implemented in 4.4.13 but also now you are redirected to the homepage.

Can you send me the url ? also your download settings & plugin settings to try to reproduce ?

    Thank you,
    George.

Thanks, @giucu91 – you’re right, it could be something else but it could be an unintended outcome caused by the same bug that was never fully resolved.

Is there a way to contact you privately so I can create an account for you on the site in question? As it is a staging site, it is not publicly available.

I’m not quite clear what you mean about downloading plugin settings?

    Cheers!

Hello @giucu91 – turns out it was my bad this time! I overlooked the fact that the staging site was requesting protected resources from the live site and the live site was rejecting those requests (presumably on the basis of the referrer?).

I’ve just updated to 4.5.1 and everything is now working as expected.
