# ERROR 400 – Bad Request/After Jetpack Update

 * Hello,
 * I ran the jetpack update the other day and now my site gets Error 400 when I 
   try to load the URL. I was able to login but it wn’t let me deactivate any of
   the plugins, like Jet Pack. Thought it might be incapatible with 3.5, but the
   site won’t let me upgrade to 3.6 either. In fact, it won’t let me do anything
   in the dashboard.

 * Try using FTP (or other file manager like Cpanel) to deactivate ALL plugins by
   renaming the plugins folder:
 *     ```
       wp-content
          plugins.HOLD
       ```

 * Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder
   inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using
   [FTP](http://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients) or whatever file management application
   your host provides.
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or phpMyAdmin.
 * – re-uploading all files & folders – **except** the wp-content folder – from 
   a **fresh** download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of
   files & folder before uploading the new ones.
 * – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

 * Ok. I renamed the plugin folder to plugin.hold. Now I can’t enter the dashboard
   from the login page or the web hosting control panel. Same error.

 * Crazy. I renamed the plugins folder back to plugins and now the dashboard is 
   working well enough to let me deactivate Jetpack.
