# Can’t Login to Admin

 * I go to my admin url and it gives me the login option. When I put in my password,
   it then gives me a page that says the file could not be found.
 * Since I logged in, I manually try going to various pages that are in that folder,
   but I get 404 error each time.
 * Ideas?

 * Try [manually resetting your plugins](https://wordpress.org/support/article/faq-troubleshooting/#how-to-deactivate-all-plugins-when-not-able-to-access-the-administrative-menus)(
   no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one
   individually until you find the cause.
 * If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via [SFTP or FTP](https://wordpress.org/support/article/ftp-clients/),
   or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to `/wp-content/
   themes/` and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force
   the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (
   theme functions can interfere like plugins).

 * Thank you for the quick reply. I just renamed my plugins folder to plugins.hold.
 * How when I try to login to the admin, it does not give me the option for logging
   in, it simply says “Forbidden”. I cleared my cache, but I get the same thing.

 * OK, renaming the .htaccess file got me past the 403 error. Now I will work on
   the rest.
 * Let you know what happens.
