• Email notifications sent from WooCommerce are most of the time not sent. As the admin/owner of site, I never receive a “New order” notification when I place an order. Emails through “order actions” also are not received. As the “customer” I sometimes receive order confirmation / receipt, but again, not always.

    Product page: http://www.thegoalislife.com/product/made-for-more-event/

I have read through the common issues there have been in the recent years, but nothing is helping. In short I have done the following:
    – activated standard WP-theme to determine if it is a theme issue. Sadly issue is not resolved
    – Tried using different addresses including wordpress@hompage.com
    – Tested Gmail account (where all address are functioning accordingly)
    – Screened all possible “trash” or “spam” boxes”
    – Contacted host (Bluehost) and went though all possible solutions, including changing the routing.

Stange thing is, that all other contact availabilities work fine. Contact page and email subscription etc. Basically email address works fine. It is only the woo commerce notifications that are behaving strangely. Before 21st of July, I was receiving the “new customer order” notifications.

    Hope someone can help!

    Hi Gent’s,

To make a very long story short, I installed Sparkpost and this seems to do the job. Rather it be with a 5 minute delay! But i now receive the emails.

I find it extremely hard to believe that this is supposedly the way things work! If by implementing a 3rd party plugin to ensure delivery of my emails, then either WP or WC is failing miserably as I still have not changed email configurations on WP or my host.

If anyone can explain this, it would be much appreciated. And as always, thank you for the support and advice.

Using a dedicated SMTP provider like SendGrid, Mailgun, Mandrill, SparkPost or SendinBlue. You improve email deliverability issues.

WooCommerce just uses as Caleb already said is the WordPress core function of wp_mail.

    G’day genletmen,

I haven’t responded to you latest comments because I wanted to make sure I have investigated all routes and issues as well as possible solutions again, before getting back in touch with you.

Although I thought Sendgrid solved the problems – the issue within WC is still very much alive!

As suggested by Caleb Burks, I have spoken to a web-developer through codable, who basically told me to leave Bluehost, as they are most likely the cause of the problems. At this point, I dont think that is wise and I would like to explain why I believe it is still a WC-issue.

I have implemented all possible solutions that you have advised including Sendgrid.

I have run all possible tests including “Mail-Log” which log’s sending ALL emails
I have sent numerous emails through “Check Mail” plugin and they ALL are immediately delivered at the correct email address.
I have never touched the code, not in my theme and surely not in WC and yet the only issues that I have are when going through the ordering process, that emails selectively do not get delivered.

Last week it was an issue with recieveing only “new order” email notification but as soon as I used a “@icloud.com” or a “@me.com” address the order-confirmation email would not get delivered. I therefore contacted Apple, who then investigated and went from Melbourne to the USA to check if their servers were blocking or bouncing the emails. Obviously this was not the case.

Ironically, the last few days it has been the exact opposite. I recieve all email notification through “@icloud.com” or a “@me.com” addresses and absolutly nothing through my website email address. But again- only through the WC-plugin. All other emails that are generated though “Mail Log” or “Email Check” or “Contact forms” work perfectly fine.

There are no signs of Spam filtering anywhere, Sendgrid is activated and working properly. At this point in time, the only thing I have managed is to that I have deleted my Gmail account which I had running for many years, spoken to all parties involved including third-party developers who cannot explain or just give me a illogic answer and thus far, I still have the same problems.
I also understand it is a difficult thing to solve and it is a process of eliminating possible causes, but I really need someone to take a serious look at this, as I am getting a bit desperate.
    Back to you!

    Hey Michael,

I’m sorry you didn’t get a very helpful developer, and while switching hosts may not be the most helpful of answers – he was right on one point. I can assure you WooCommerce itself isn’t causing this. Something at the server level or with whatever smtp you are using is.

Perhaps when you test send emails they are working because at that moment everything is working fine. There may be a bad connection or something that causes problems randomly later down the road. I think it’s pretty clear given how your issues keep flip flopping between working with some email providers and then the opposite issues later on.

There is honestly nothing more I can do to help here. If this were a bug in WooCommerce, there would be thousands of threads open for this. Furthermore, since WooCommerce uses default WordPress functionality for emails, there would be thousands more open for WordPress core issues.

If you do suspect the web host may be at fault, it may be worth looking into a change or perhaps move up from a shared hosting account. That is up to you, but you may want to contact their support one last time to ask for further help on this.

    Hey Caleb,

Thanks for your reply. I understand where your coming from although I still have difficulty with the fact that all emails work except when going through the WC-plugin. But as you said, if there was an issue I agree there would be many others complaining.

I will have another go with Bluehost and see if changing the host helps.

    Thanks again,
