• Hey Better WP Security Gurus,

My entire site went down today, with nothing but a single word: “Error” showing up on a blank white page.

This error message appears on the site front-end, login page, etc.

Since this kind of thing is normally caused by a corrupted plugin, I went through my plugin folder, disabling one at a time, looking for the problem.

Then I discovered the site whiteout is being caused by Better WP Security.

I am running the most current version of WP, and of Better WP Security. The plugin has worked brilliantly on my site for months. I haven’t installed any new plugins, or changed versions or settings on any of my other existing plugins.

This plugin has been a godsend, because my site is hit with MANY hacking attempts per day. I would love to get it back up and running, and really (REALLY) don’t want to have to uninstall the plugin in order to get the site functional again.

    So: a few questions:
1.) Do you have a list of plugins that have known conflicts with Better WP Security? Perhaps there’s something else I can uninstall.

2.) Do you have any suggestions to remove the “error”? Is this caused by an overflowing log file or something simple?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  • I have this same issue of the ‘error’. I was able to get back into my site, disable 404 and check the log file. There was a list of 23 files (images) in the FancyBox for WordPress plugin folder. Next, I installed the development version of WP Better Security but the exact same thing happens. I have a temporary fix of having 404 detection disabled but would really appreciate a solution so I could turn that back on.

disable fancybox plugin or manually update images path in fancybox plugin
