    I am i am in middle of building a site and put the wrong code in. now the
   site will not launch and i can’t even log in to fix the problem. under the “thems
   functions template” i wrote add_custom_backround(); now all it says is fatal

 * You need to edit the file through your host’s CPanel-feature. You can access 
   this by logging in to your hosting service. There, navigate and edit the file
   at wp-content->themes->*Name of your theme*->functions.php and remove the line
   you added.

    however when i accessed it and erased what i added it still doesn’t work.
   so i went back i saw that somehow it was still there. so itried again to erase
   it and saved it and for some reason it comes right back. how do i permanently
   erase it. by the way i edited it using notepad. perhaps i need to use a different
   program? thanks

 * Try downloading a new copy of your theme and replacing that entire file with 
   a new copy.

 * just for others who come across this problem.
    we use godaddy as a host. so instead
   of opening the file with a specific program , i did right click on the file and
   it gave an option to edit. i edited it over there and it worked
