Engadget Style New Window Links

I was doing some searching but couldn’t find what I’m looking for and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction.

I’m looking for a plugin that will turn the “Open in new window” links (or I would settle for all links) and make them work sort of like the links at Engadget.com. When Engadget links to another article, it has the text “READ” with a little icon next to it. If you click on the text, it opens in the same window. If you click on the little icon, it opens it in a new tab/window.

Is there some sort of plugin that would do this?
