When I add the predefined “Biography” (description) field, HTML is not enabled even if I (a) tick the “Enable HTML” option in the field creation modal and (b) tick the “Enable HTML Support for user description” option in the Settings -> Appearance -> Profile area.

Oddly, if I duplicate the original “Biography” field, this new field DOES have HTML editing enabled.

    Please advise. Thank you.

    Hi @jdcohan

You should only use 1 biography field in the Profile form. If you want to use the predefined “biography” field, you should disable the option in the UM > Forms > Edit a Profile Form > Customize this form > Apply custom settings to this form > “Yes”. Turn off the option “Show user description in profile header?”

    Hi, @champsupertramp)

I select “No” for set “Show user description in profile header”, but when I update the form, the option reverts to “Yes”.

This is interesting: When I visit my profile page, the user description does NOT appear in profile header, but the word “Yes” appears there.

Also, the biography (description) field is still not preserving HTML, and it does not display the HTML editor interface. I added some simple HTML (bold text) and saved. The text showed as bold. When I RE-edited my profile, the html was gone.

    Hi @jdcohan

Could you please tell us what version of UM you’re using? Have you tried using the latest version 2.2.2? We’ve fixed this issue.

    I just upgraded from 2.2.0 to 2.2.2.

    Problem still exists.

Biography (description) field does not present HTML edit UI. The textarea control also does NOT preserve HTML. I can manually insert HTML to style — e.g., to make something italic, and after updating profile ONE TIME, the styling is there. However, when I attempt to edit profile a SECOND time, the HTML is gone.

    – “Enable HTML” is checked – in both the form’s customization and in Settings -> Appearance -> Profile.

    – “Show user description in profile header” is unchecked – in both the form’s customization and in Settings -> Appearance -> Profile.

    A. I just tested the Biography field on a different website. UM version also 2.2.2.

    Same problems as above.

    B. Related question: Are the settings in a profile form’s “Customize this form?” section supposed to override the settings in UM -> Settings -> Appearance -> Profile?

    Thanks

    Thank you, @champsupertramp

I installed the 2.2.3-beta version, but nothing changed, as far as I can tell.

Would it help for me to send some or all of the “Install Info”?

    Hi @jdcohan

Thanks for letting us know. I just tested with the new pre-release version in the link and it is working now:
    https://github.com/ultimatemember/ultimatemember/archive/refs/heads/master.zip

    1. Extract the master.zip file.
    2. Rename the plugin from ultimate-member-master to ultimate-member
    3. Upload it to your site or override the existing plugin via FTP/SFTP

**Ensure that you’ve created a backup of your site before the manual update.

Let us know if you’re still encountering any issues.
