Just installed your plugin and I realised that I need to enable auto update for this plugin to work as well (for plugins and themes).

You don’t need to enable auto updates or this plugin to work. This plugin is made to disable updates, not enable them.

    Hi Matthew,

I asked this because I want to auto update themes and plugins except some of them. I wanted to use your plugin to disable auto update for the plugins that I don’t want to update automatically.

With the filter and your plugin this should work, right?

    Thanks

But by default, auto updates are enabled.

Sorry, but then I have missed something. I have many websites, but none of them auto update plugins.

You don’t need to have your plugins automatically updates for it to work. Above, when I said by default auto updates are enabled, I meant background updates.

You don’t need to do any coding for this plugin to work. It can work on your website whether there are auto updates or background updates disabled or enabled. It can also work with most other plugins that do anything to the updates system in WordPress.

I don’t think it is appropriate to add a code to enable automatic plugin updates when the plugin is made to disable updates.

If you just download the plugin and select to disable all updates does it not work?

I’m testing it at the moment, waiting for a plugin to auto update to see if this is working first. Then I want to see when I have the auto update for plugins working if I can block this auto update for a plugin using your plugin. I’ll let you know.

As far as I know, I have coded it to disable the auto updates. But I am interested to see what your results will be.

    Hi Matthew,

Today, finally one of the plugins that I blocked for updates needed an update so I could test your plugin with the auto_update_plugin filter in the mu-plugins folder.

I am happy to tell you that it works, which means that with these filters and your plugin I can control the whole updating process of themes and plugins.

    Thanks!
