I am setting up a shop for a client, but I am having a problem setting up payments. I have gone through the process of adding consumer and secret keys for the REST-API. I have used Postman to test and get the following result:

    Successful PUT request

However, when I try to connect the store, I get the following error:

There was a problem connecting this site to WordPress.com: “The registration secrets sent by your site is empty.

Can anyone please advise me how to solve the issue? Many thanks in advance!

    Hi there @chapman387,

    Thanks for reaching out.

The error message you’re seeing seems like the issue might be related to a communication problem between your site and WordPress.com.

First, please ensure that your site’s Jetpack plugin is connected to WordPress.com. If it’s not, try to connect it. If it’s already connected, try disconnecting and reconnecting.

Let us know if the problem persists.

I resolved the problem by Resetting file permissions and restarting web services, on my host dashboard.

I’m getting the same error message.

When I go to Site dashboard -> click Payments on left column -> Connect Your Store, it gives me the error message: “There was a problem connecting this site to WordPress.com: “The registration secrets sent by your site is empty.””

I have asked my website hosting provider about it, and they said the file permissions are correct on the server end.

I was able to manually install the Update Manager yesterday, and under the Extensions tab it seems that my account has been connected.

I don’t have Jetpack and would prefer not to use it.

    Thanks for any assistance!

I don’t use jetpack either. Try asking your host to restart web services. That did the trick for me (NGINX and PHP services). Your host may be different though.

They just did, though I’m still getting the error message. Thanks for the tip though!
