Support » Plugin: WP Job Manager » Empty comments widget when comments are turned off

  • Resolved armandoarrastia

I am using the Listify theme and have WP JobManager v. 1.28.0 installed. When I have comments turned OFF, I still see an empty widget box on the page. I have asked Astoundify for help with this, and here is their reply: “I do see what you mean. At this time there is no option around this. I can bring it up to the team but by default, it will leave a blank widget if you remove the comments on the specific listing.

At this time Listify does not control this and is a feature provided by the WP Job manager plugin. I would reach out to them for more information.
This can be directed to the developers of that plugin so they can provide better insight on the plugin.

The link provided as the page I need help with is just a sample page, but this happens with every listing on which comments is not checked on the back end. If you scroll down on the sample page you’ll see the empty widget box on the bottom right, just under the Photo Gallery. Thank you.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

@armandoarrastia it’s not really clear why this is happening and I think their support person is mistaken. You can hide this using CSS targeting #listify_widget_panel_listing_comments-3 { display:none; } and putting that in your Custom CSS

Hi. Thank you for your reply.

I applied that code and it did indeed remove the empty box when Allow Comments is NOT checked. However, it also removes the box when Allow Comments IS checked. My goal was to remove the comments widget only when we do not want comments on a listing.

So with that CSS code inserted, it doesn’t show the comments box at all, even when it contains approved comments.

Is there code or an edit to this code that might help fix that? Again, we don’t want the empty comments box to appear, but we do want the “write a comment” option to appear when we “Allow comments” and we want it to appear when a comment has been submitted and approved.

    Thanks again!

Hi. Still waiting on a reply on my comment of 6 days ago please. Thanks!

    Hi there,

I am sorry for taking this so long.

    Which widget do you mean?
This one Listify - Listing: Reviews?

If so, this is something from Listify. You definitely need to contact the theme author for this.

If I am wrong, please disable all other plugins except WPJM and switch to a default theme like Twenty Seventeen, do you see the issue?
