# Empty author on post

 * We have quite a few posts published around 2012 who seem to have lost their author
   for some reason. Has anyone experienced this? What could cause a post to loose
   author meta data?
 * Example: [http://p3.no/filmpolitiet/2012/05/en-forestilling/](http://p3.no/filmpolitiet/2012/05/en-forestilling/)
 * Checked in wp_posts, and post_author is set to 17, and that user exists and has
   the proper settings, as far as I can see. wp_user_level 7

 * Do you mean the “Skrevet av” section in the sidebar?
 * Your theme (or possibly a plugin) is adding `style="display: none;"` to the author
   container.

 * I added a few screenshots from Wp_admin above, as you can see the author is simply
   not there when I edit the post.
 * But: You are correct about the display:none part though. The theme is abiously
   able to retrieve the meta for author 17, even if wp_admin won’t display it. Interesting!

 * Are you using a plugin to select (multiple) authors? Or does your theme provide
   that?

 * Yes, we use Co-authors plus. Tried deaktivating it, and if I do that, the correct

 * Hm. Well, this issue is clearcly related to the co-authors plus plugin. Need 
   to find out how it stores author data, and find out why it failes on these older
   posts.
