Employee Department Plugin

    Greetings again,

    I am not sure if this is the correct forum for my thread. Please redirect me to the correct page if not this.

    We are trying to be able to categorize employees by their department.

    In other words, we have several employees and we would like each employee to be able see information related to their specific department.

    Example, if there are three departments, HR, IT, Purchasing, and John Doe belongs to HR department, whenever John Doe logs into our website, he can only see information related to HR only.

    He cannot see any other department or information about that department.

    Is there a plugin that can help us handle this?

    Even better, can this be done in WordPress theme without plugin?

    Look into one of the membership and content restriction plugins as that’s what you’d need to manage roles (assign users to role based on department) and assign content to roles (for the restriction).

    For example, https://wordpress.org/plugins/ultimate-member/ and https://wordpress.org/plugins/restrict-content/

    Or you could set up a bbpress site and create forums for each department and assign users to forums.

    There are several ways to do this, but you’re going to need plugins.

    Thanks so much Steve for the prompt response.

    Problem with these plugins is that they require an employee to log in first.

    We would just like to create a department, create the employees for this department and set the restrict limiting them access just to the department they belong to without having to log in.

    We had an employee do this a long time again but he is no longer here and the wordpress he created is no longer available either.

    They have to login. How else do you know who’s viewing the site?
