    Hello,

When I try to add an emoji on the Title or Meta description of Page, the emoji is always removed after saving.

I have run an health check and tried without all plugins and a default wordpress theme. And still when Yaost is the only plugin active the issue is still the same, emojis are removed after saving.

However when i add the emoji directly on the headline without any plugins, or without yaost only, it works and i can see the emojis.

I have currently PHP version 7. and tried 7.1, 7.2, 7.3 still the same issue.

Here are the details: Yaost Version 15.1.1
    Version WP : 5.5.1
    MySQL Version : 5.5.30
    System: Linux
    PHP Version: 7.0.33
    Memory Limit: 512M
    Max Execution Time: 300
    CGI Version: CGI/1.1
    Server Protocol: HTTP/1.1

    Hi,

We tested this out with a default theme of TwentyTwenty and only Yoast SEO for WordPress v15.1.1 enabled. We created a new post and set the SEO title and meta description field in the Yoast SEO meta box with these emojis “😧 😨 😩 🤯 😬 😰 😱” and then published the post. They were showing in the page source for the title and meta description field.

Could you please provide us with a sample URL and a screenshot or more information when you say that the emojis are removed?

@mikes41720 I keep seeing these “😧 🤯 😬 😰” some have [] like empty boxes with no icon any idea why that is?

I use the newest Chrome and I have no idea if Font Awesome is turned off.

But I like to respond as well to this post…

Maybe he uses a plugin to remove emojis form WP source?

    Regards.

    Hi,

Different operating systems have distinct methods of accessing emoji. Note that these methods work in most applications, not just WordPress. They are created differently and handled differently by operating systems and web browsers. You can learn more about it here — https://wordpress.org/support/article/emoji/

I simply copy paste the emoji on the SEO title or description and Save the page. Looking at the page title, there are no emojis. Then I go back to modify the page and I can see the the emoji that I copied paste on the seo title is not there any more…

@vegas778 To use an emoji, the database must be able to save them in the correct format. Please check that your database collation support saving emojis. The database (and the corresponding tables and entries) should support 4 byte collations with ‘utf8mb4’.

If you are unsure how to check this, please contact your server admin or webhost.

the emojis are working in the title without your plugin so there is nothing wrong in the database.
