• Is it possible to add emojis to the ticker? I inserted them…updated the ticker but then they disappeared. Not sure if this is not possible in the ticker or whether I did something incorrectly.

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Yes, it is possible. I just tested it out without issue on my local site.

    Is your emoji disappearing on the edit screen of the ticker, or just on the front-end? If so, does it disappear right after saving? How are you inserting your emojis?

    Are you able to add, save and view emoji’s on other parts of your site? Like posts, pages, and widgets?

    I have emojis on pages that are fine. Using Chrome approved emoji extension. I copy then paste the emoji before the ticker. I save and it is there in the plugin but gone after publishing update. I then look at the site on Chrome they are gone.( even in incognito) Go back to check in plugin and they are gone.
    Just checked again that it was not a cache issue….still no emojis. Using Chromebook/Chrome browser.

    Can you point me to a page on your site where the emojis are showing up?

    Normally on WP sites, WordPress automatically adds the following javascript to render emojis (I trimmed most of it for this example):

    <script type="text/javascript">
      window._wpemojiSettings = ....
    </script>

    But, I don’t see this within your html source code of your home page.

    Please try running through the following articles to see if another plugin, or your theme may be affecting this:

    Let me know what you find out. Thanks!

    The pages that have emojis are
    https://teachyoutosew.com/types-of-sewing-machines/
    https://teachyoutosew.com/best-sewing-machines-for-auto-https://upholstery/https://teachyoutosew.com/contest/

    I dont think it is a plugin conflict but might be something in genesis parallax pro theme….or perhaps there is something that was turned off for emojis in wordpress installation??

    I am wondering if this is a script issue with chrome and async, wp-rocket??? I can put emojis into text…but I believe your program is a script and these 2 plugins could be blocking emojis as a speed issue??? Any thoughts? If this is the problem, how would I exclude your script in their programs so emojis would appear? Both these programs are deferring java scripts and css.

    I even changed the keyboard in the chromebook to allow emoji selection and they work great in text.

    Thanks for your help/thoughts/insight

    I discovered autoptimize under extras has a checkbox to prevent emojis….disabled that….clear cache in cdn, rocket, autoptimize, cloudflare…but still wont save the emojis for ditty. Again, saves them for text..such as titles.
    Any ideas???

    Ok I’ve found it. WP ROcket has an automatic setting to disable emojis and you cant turn it off. ON another site I am NOT usiing WP ROcket and the emojis work just fine in the ditty ticker…so its WP Rocket.

    Apparently you can turn off the with a small helper plugin, see https://docs.wp-rocket.me/article/1509-disable-emoji-optimization Larrian.

    Thanks for the help and insight @optimizingmatters !

    @larrian please check out the helper plugin and let me know if that resolves the issue for you.

    I tried that but again, no help. I have submitted a support ticket to Rocket and will let you know what they say.

    WP rocket says its not their problem. I turned off all the plugins and it still wont let me save emojis. I’m thinking it is something to do with the theme..genesis parallax pro..but I cant find anything in the theme settings I may have set that wont allow the emojis to be saved. I can save emojis in wordpress pages on the site. I turned off jquery in async as you suggested but still no luck.

    Can you make a clone (or a staging copy via your host) of your site to test with a with a different theme? That would be the best way to track down the source of this issue. After making a clone run through this article https://www.metaphorcreations.com/article/test-plugin-conflicts/ to rule out other plugins as well.

    I turned off ALL plugins except the theme…and the emojis wont save in the ticker but do save on pages. I think it HAS to be the theme as that is the only difference between the 2 sites and oth have jquery turned off in async.
