Emoji in the subject

    Hi guys,
    I’m playing around with the emoji in the subject line and I don’t understand how and why not all the emoji are recognized by the plugin.

    I notice that, in the step 1 where I add the subject, some emoji looks like a square. In this case, if I go ahead to step 2, the plugin will automatically remove the emoji (ex 🙌 ; 👌).

    Some other emoji like the heart (ex. ❤️‍ ) are working in the step 1 and so in the step 2.

    However, I noticed that some other like the cat with the heart eyes (ex. 😻 ) is working in the step 1, but then in the step 2 is removed.
    I noticed also, that if I create a new newsletter with this specific emoji (the cat with heart eyes), there are some weird error and the newsletter is not saved.

    So, the question is: how can I recognize which emoji will work and which not, without testing directly in the newsletter?

    I was trying to put emoji into the body of the email (a sub-header with links to our Calendar, Schedules, and Programs) but when I save the newsletter all the emoji disappeared!?

    Is this based on the font? Does the editor strip certain characters, like emoji? Does the database not support those characters?!

    It is better to don’t use special fonts in the email as not every browser can display them.
    You can use the “email safe fonts” instead.

    Hi,

    Unfortunately MailPoet doesn’t currently support emojis in the subject line. We’re working on this feature for MailPoet 3, however.

    Actually, some are working: the heart, sun, lightning and a few more.
    Some are not.

    I refer to this website http://getemoji.com/ using chrome, what I see from that page is what is working on the subject of mailpoet (I see most of them as squares)

    for the body of the mail, it is better to use just normal text with the email safe fonts that are the one in the mailpoet editor.

    I’m super looking forward for the new version!!!
