For a long time I didnt think it was possible to embed selfhosted video to the wordpress site.
That statement seems to only be true if you use the webbased wordpress, if you on the other hand use the Android or iOS apps and attach a video from the post it gets embedded.
So my question is really how do I embed selfhosted video to my blog from the webgui?
I don’t think WordPress out of the box will do it but with a plugin you should be able to.
I think Viper’s had that option too.
Keep in mind that self-hosting your own video’s could get really expensive bandwidth-wise. Using Vimeo or YouTube is a good way to avoid that usage penalty. But doing that would also defeat the point of your question…
Well it works out of the box, Just not in the webgui(without typing in HTML), that confuses me, since it works out of the box with the apps for the phones. So there must be some way todo the same from the webgui.
Bandwith is no issue since the blog is private and have 3 daily readers. I usualy post a URL to the video.
But I noticed yesterday when I did a post from the phone that it does embed the video from the phone.
Viewing the source gives me that it type in the following HTLM:
<p><video width=”1280″ height=”720″ controls=”controls”><source src=”XXX” type=”video/mp4″ />Click to view video.</video></p>
So it does infact work to embed video out of the box in wordpress.
What im looking for is a smooth way todo it without involving typing in HTML every time I want to embed a video.
