• Hello all,

I’m trying to embed a customised Google Map into my blog by using the embed HTML provided by Google Maps:

    <iframe height="500" scrolling="no" width="425" frameBorder="0" src=" http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&amp;hl=en&amp;om=1&amp;s=AARTsJqapklHpEVweLkdXHVvflkdrtY60g&amp;msa=0&amp;msid=103233348724983297146.000440cd0ffe328768137&amp;ll=25.284438,75.541992&amp;spn=19.790476,18.676758&amp;z=5&amp;output=embed " marginHeight="0" marginWidth="0"></iframe>
    <small><a href=" http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&amp;hl=en&amp;om=1&amp;msa=0&amp;msid=103233348724983297146.000440cd0ffe328768137&amp;ll=25.284438,75.541992&amp;spn=19.790476,18.676758&amp;z=5&amp;source=embed " style="color: #0000ff; text-align: left">View Larger Map</a></small>

When I paste this into the code, I’m able to preview the map perfectly fine, but I can no longer edit the blog at ALL.

I have tried using this code on both versions 2.3 and 2.3.1. using Firefox.

I tried embedding this code using version 2.3 on Internet Explorer, and what do you know.. it’s fine on there!

I’m aware that there’s a Google Map WordPress plugin available (http://avi.alkalay.net/2006/11/google-maps-plugin-for-wordpress.html), however this currently only allows for maps with multiple markers, not maps with lines for instance. It also won’t show the distance between 2 points, which can be seen if using the HTML from Google Maps.

So currently, I’m having to use Internet Explorer and 2.3 to use the code above. Why does this bug exist on Firefox and not on Internet Explorer?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

    Many thanks,
    Tanya

  • I’m having the exact same problem, WP v. 2.3.1. Works in IE but not Firefox. Any ideas???

I know there are good google maps plugins out there but I always prefer to avoid using more than is necessary, especially since I only want to display 1 simple map.
