# Embedding a video

 * Super frustrated.
 * The embed video button is gone from the dashboard. I searched the issue in the
   forum and it is suggested to just cut and paste the url directly into my post,
   no need to “imbed video”. But when I do all that shows up on the post is a line
   that says:
 * YouTube: please specify correct url
 * I’ve gone back to realize that now ALL the videos of all my previous 100 posts
   have dissappeared. How is that possible? Is there a way to get them back up without
   having to manually re-paste every one of my videos?
 * And most importantly, how to I effectively imbed a video now?? Very frustrated
   with the dashboard alterations.

 * Are you sure you have the right YT url?
 * Have you tried:
 * – deactivating **all** plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works,
   re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
 * – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](https://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause
   problems.
 * – re-uploading all files & folders – **except** the wp-content folder and wp-
   config.php & root .htaccess files – from a **fresh** download of WordPress. Make
   sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new
   ones.
