  • Hi Marketingkoru1

Just tested your form. The 404 error looks like the Thank You page is missing…

In HubSpot please check to see your form has the correct Redirect Page.

Marketing > Contacts > Forms (you will see all your forms)

Click on the form that’s misbehaving. Go to the Embed Tab.

There you will see an option:

    1. What should your user see after submitting the form?

    Redirect or Thank you message.

Is the Redirect Page correct? And is the page you Redirect to in WordPress published?

This may explained the obvious for you… but it’s the first thing I’d check.

The “parameter” in the URL (/?submissionGuid=69170a18-c3f1-40a1-ab49-13b31928200f) won’t make a difference to a 404 error (WordPress will ignore GET Parameters unless they are whitelisted in your theme’s functions file).

    Cheers
    Mike

    Thanks Mike.

The Thank you Page is published as private page. Do you think that will make a difference in why the system thinks the page doesn’t exist?

I want to ensure no one can access the Thank You without completing the form first.

    Cheers – Bennett

Excellent – you’ve found the issue.

If you log into WordPress and fill in your form you should see the Thank You Page (Private Pages are visible to anyone logged in). So, no 404 error for anyone logged in – make the page public and your problem is solved… but then it shows up in Google.

So, to hide your Thank You Page from Google you can either add the “no index” tag to your Template.

Or, if you’re using Yoast SEO you can easily hide the page: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-do-i-noindex-urls/

Personally, I create a separate Thank You Page Template in WordPress with the “no index” tags in the template. You can go an extra step and check the “Referrer” so you only show the content to people who have completed the form and been referred from HubSpot. Or, assuming you now have a HubSpot Cookied Browser you can check the Cookie… ok, maybe I’m getting over excited about HubSpot (occupational hazard).

    Cheers
    Mike
