  • You don’t say what version of WordPress you are using, but if you are using 3.9.1, all you need to do to add a Youtube video is paste the URL to the video in the Visual Editor. WordPress will do the rest. No embed tags are required.

You might try just putting a test URL to a video in first, and if that works okay, you can try fixing your videos page by updating the content there accordingly.

I am using WP version 3.9.1. I tried doing what you suggested. Nothing shows at all, however, the size of the synopsis window becomes significantly larger, as if there is something there, as you can see here (it’s just below the link):

I’m wondering if this could be an issue with my YouTube account. I haven’t uploaded anything in a long time.

You’re just pasting the URL in the post, right, not putting it in as a hyperlink?

To see if it’s your Youtube account, you could grab a random Youtube video link and try it.

I am guessing it may be your theme. You could try switching to a default WordPress theme like Twenty Thirteen to test it and see.

Are you sure that you are allowing sharing on your YT videos?

I don’t recall ever disallowing sharing. I didn’t change anything with my settings. Still, it is possible that YouTube made changes in the meantime.
Where on YT can I check to see that I’m allowing the sharing of my videos?

I just found out that this problem exists with Firefox and Chrome, but not with Safari and Opera. That’s from a Mac. I don’t have Explorer.
