• I produce .mov videos in iMovie and recently started using S3 to host my files, however I cannot figure out how to correctly embed them in a post. Adding the movie link using the Upload/Insert button simply adds a download link to the files, and the Insert/Edit embedded media does not display/format the movie correctly.

YouTube is easy because they give you the embed code, but does anyone know how to take the .mov link from S3 and correctly embed it into a post? Do I need a plugin or video player?

    Thanks,

    Billy

  • I have a similar question. I just uploaded a small mov file to S3 for hosting. I wanted to play it on my page but haven’t had success using flv embed. Like Billy, I get a download link. Does anyone know of a way to play mov from amazon s3 on a WordPress page or post? Has anyone used DOP for this?
    Thanks, Kathy

Did either of you ever get a resolution? I have made some progress but am looking for more. There is a plugin called “Amazon S3 for WordPress”. This allows you to use S3 as your native wordpress media library so that it handles the authentication with S3. You can then use a FLV plugin for wordpress and use the URL for the video provided by the WordPress media library. I have tried it using a quick time .mov or .m4v file using embedded quick time player and a FLV with a FLV plugin. Please contact me if you would like to share more information.

To use Amazon S3 for wordpress you must first have a S3 account and set up at least one bucket. I used S3Fox for that.
