Apologies if this has been asked already, but I skimmed the first 5 or 6 pages and didn’t see a post asking this question.

I installed WordPress 3.0.1 and activated the multisite functionality, but I’m unable to embed flash objects to pages. I understand that WordPress 3.0, like WordPress MU, employs a series of filters to limit user embeds in the same way that blogs do. The solution for that problem has been to comment out the post filtering in kse.php. But that apparently only works for objects embedded in posts.

My problem is that I’m trying to use WP3.0 as a CMS for a series of unrelated pages, using the Fitr and MultiEdit plug-ins. I need to be able to embed Flash content on these pages, but I can’t find a solution to make this work. All of the old WPMU workaround plug-ins are currently broken and the resounding opinion of unfiltering <embed> and <object> tags on the WPMU Dev forum seems to be “don’t do it” (even in cases where you won’t allow user registration), which seems a bit extreme.

Has anyone come up with a solution for this issue? Or am I going to have to wait for the old plugins to update?

  • Nevermind! I figured it out. My problem was with MultiEdit storing the content block data in custom fields, which won’t parse shortcodes without a hack.
