    I’ve not done this, but I would suggest reading the suggestions in the first link you reference and keep the video very simple and not too fast moving, otherwise it can take people’s attention away from your content, and it is always about the content. That should be the primary focus of your site.

    What you would want to do is to set the background to the placeholder image that they suggest so that if the video doesn’t play, they will not be staring at a blank white background.

    Next you would want to add the HTML5 video tags to your child theme header.php file after the body tag, but before <div id="page" class="hfeed site">

    You would also need to add the CSS required to the style.css file of your child theme.

    If you have not yet done so, I would suggest creating a child theme so that any customizations you make will not be overwritten by a future theme update.
