    Hi

Thank you for your time and dedication to this project. I’m really wanting to make the most out of it and support it.

However, since the very beginning, every single time an email is sent to a customer (WooCommerce) or WP user (eg. Post SMTP send test email) – the emails go to the junk/spam folder.

For a couple of years, I’ve had it set up with Sendgrid. Emails send successfully, but always received by customers to their junk folder, and this is a huge problem for an ecommerce store.

Recently, I changed the Post SMTP set up to use a 365 account directly. It is set up exactly as per your recommendations; all details are correct. The email sends just fine, but again, all emails continue to go to junk.

There are zero reputation issues with my domain – it is 100% clear. When I send emails from any other device/client, I have zero deliverability issues. I’m on a highly reputable and secure server (running Litespeed). It is only when sending from WordPress that all emails end up in junk/spam folders.

There is no sending error, and appears to be no issues with configuration whatsoever. The emails send, but they go to spam, which is devastating to business and very frustrating.

I would deeply appreciate guidance to fix this. Note: I am not using your 365 extension, as it is not currently available.

How do I configure Post SMTP so that all emails go to the inbox, and never to junk/spam?

    Many thanks.

  • Do you have SPF and DKIM set up correctly for your domain?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, SPF and DKIM is set up properly. I had this verified again. There are no other deliverability issues for any other email usage situation – only from WordPress via the plugin.

Do you have any of the full headers from the emails ending up in spam.
The reason(s) for it being filtered into spam should be within those headers (in theory!)

Is it happening for all recipients, or just certain email providers (like Yahoo, Gmail etc).

Given you had the same problem with the new SMTP provider that you did with SendGrid suggests that there could be something wrong with your local configuration.
But the fact you mention your reputation and secure Lightspeed server sounds like you really know what you’re doing! (Can bet you are climbing the walls !!)

One suggestion, does the sending account/email address actually exist?
I’ve had several sites where we used a do_not_reply@this-domain.com email address (for an unmonitored reply address). This would cause some mails to be rejected during both the send (on some SMTP servers) and at reception (by the end users). Whatever anti-spam measures were in place was obviously checking to see if the sending address was a valid mail account. We ended up just creating an email fwd and that stopped the issues. (Clutching at straws here)

Hey @shinerweb – thanks for your great response. The WP notification got lost amid my emails, hence the delayed reply.

The email account does exist, and no other deliverability problems exist – it’s only hen emails are sent from WordPress (and I figured that this plugin exists to solve such things). But I will do some more testing and go through the headers for clues – great ide. I will update the thread in a day or so.

    Really appreciate your help.

    Hi @jason9j,

Just to add to @shinerweb’s excellent work here, did you manage to do any tests? Mail-tester.com is a fantastic tool for testing things like this, you can send a test to them directly from Post SMTP. 🙂

    Kind Regards,
    Tim
