It sounds like it might be a sender issue – which user have you used as the email sending account in the Subscribe2->Settings page under the Email Settings tab?
Also have a check here:

Hi Matty
Thanks for the reply.I have now tried all three. I am not sure if the final one (set today) is working as I don’t want to annoy my subscribers too much having already tested an email to them today.
So first I used Steven (the only User name listed) and used Steven Kennard Turned Art and Sculpture (also listed) and neither of those worked. Now I am going to test “Post Author”. Which will only be Steven, of course. The email address is a domain email address and the email I sent out from the plugin (manually) worked just fine.
but the strange thing is that no subscription confirmation emails are received by subscribers either. For that reason I don’t know if we would receive a notification of subscriber or not. They have to be subscribed manually and I presume in that case no email is sent?
Emails are received just fine when a comment for moderation comes in.
Incidentally I have another site (my own blog) using the plugin on the same host and emails are sent out with no problems from that site, so it’s not the site.
Cheers
Ellie
Just tested a posting using the Post Author setting and the mail was sent out just fine.
Now all I need to work out is why no request for confirmation mails are sent to subscribers when they have signed up.

Does the email you are using shared the same domain as the blog? So does it end @stevenkennard.com?
Yes it does, Matty @mattyrob

No reason it shouldn’t work then. Check the logs and check with your hosting provider if there are failures. You might want to try anSMTP plugin to push emails via an authenticated SMTP server rather than via your web server.
Thanks for the help Matty / @mattyrob
How can I check the logs? Do you mean with my hosting service? Or is there another way within the plugin that I haven’t discovered?
@mattyrob / Matty
Thanks I have installed and the plugin is showing that the emails are leaving the blog. They are checking at the server level to see if the emails are actually leaving the server. Some get through, but others, notably ones to my own and other gmail addresses are not getting through. The ones I send to a non gmail address (but sent to an email address hosted on the server) get through just fine. Very odd. Is it Gmail?
@elliekennard / Ellie
It might be a spam filter thing – check in the GMail spam folder.
@mattyrob / Matty
Nothing in the spam filter. But it seems that the host is currently on a blacklist. That could explain why the mails are not getting through. They have requested to be removed.
Thanks so much for your help and support in this.
Ellie

Being on a blacklist will do it every time – good that your hosting provider is sorting that out.
