http://feedburner.com they can subscribe to your site RSS feed and every time you post something new they will receive an e-mail.
Emil, with the plan I am thinking about it would be to my advantage, and the “customer’s” convenience, if there is a way that I can add them to an Email list for the new Posts…..without them having to use RSS.
With “The Sweet Beet” (an excellent website), I am on her Email list and I was even notified today that a new Post was available.
Any suggestions on how I would go about creating something like this?
There was a plugin for this long time ago, but I can’t remember the name. See this: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/email-post-changes/
What I do know is that all previous plugins had some issues, that’s why people go with the feedburner option.
Thanks for your thoughts. I decided to go with a feedburner from Google since I already have an account with them and am just about done setting it up.
They actually recommended using a (Steve) Smith plugin and I am about to finish that part of getting this thing rolling.
Take care. Fred
Well, it didn’t work for me so I will have to try another method. I know a professional programmer who can do it….smiling, for a price!
Going back and reading some of your previous posts, you mention http://www.thesweetbeet.com if you’re talking about the little subscribe box to the right, she’s using http://www.feedblitz.com for that. And it looks like the service is compatible with WordPress as well.
An alternative to this is http://www.feedmailer.net. However above all of this is FeedBurner and I don’t know why that didn’t workout for you. Was it a plugin issue?
Not sure if you had a chance to review this plugin as well:
Appreciate the info Emil, I am going to check it all out shortly.
When I activated the FeedSmith plugin and then went to pick the options in the administrative area I got a warning from Google that this might be someone impersonating the website. I chose to disregard the warning but then Google showed me their standard search engine page and I never was allowed to pick any options or settings.
It was confusing so I deactivated and deleted the FeedSmith plugin.
Will let you know how it goes, and thanks again.
Please, don’t mention it. Helping with WordPress relaxes me. When I’m working and need some time off, you’ll see me around here, weird I’m sure, but it helps me to help you 🙂
Anyways, yes please check and let me know, if I don’t respond after 4:00 CST that means that it was time for me to get some shuteye.
Oh and FYI FeedBurner did have some issues, one of them was associated with FeedSmith/WordPress help. http://i.imgur.com/ss05V.jpg
