I am currently testing the PMPro plugin and I have created a trial (free) membership level.
I have noticed that when a user selects the trial membership and proceeds to checkout, they are required to provide username, email and password. After submitting that information, the account is immediately created even without verifying the email address. How can I ensure that the user’s email address is authentic?
Can I send an activation link to the customers email…with a link for them to activate their account? Another alternative way to achieve the desired result would be to not allow users to set their password, but instead email them a randomly generated password to their email address at checkout….the user would then have to input an authentic email address to login.
If this plugin was to be used in a live website, users could use random email addresses to use the trial membership repeatedly and never bother with paid membership levels.
Am I missing a trick? BTW apart from this issue, I think the plugin is very well made. Kudos to the developers!
