    Hi,

    I just started using Germanized outside Germany and now I have a little problem.

    How to translate email notifications? I did change everything I was able from the setup, but those strings which are not editable from setup just do not work.

    I am using Loco translate. I guess that is fine because it works for everything else I tried on that test website, except for the emails. Loco is used to translate everything there, not just Germanized.

    I am a little confused because Loco is recognizing and detecting all the strings, but the translation is not displayed.

    Also, I am using Kadence WooCommerce Email Designer to make emails nicer and when I open an email there, only few Germanized ones are shown, like trusted shops, or new account activation.

    However, trusted shops is visible, but not editable.

    Why is that? Is there anything we could do to include all of them in Kadence?

    What do you suggest?

    Hi there,

    some strings (from the language file) are used as defaults only (on installation they will be added to the DB). These strings are available as options within the Germanized settings, such as checkbox labels etc. – you might need to check the actual settings and adjust these texts within the settings directly.

    Hi,

    Yes. I found all those default ones. That is fine. I am referring to the rest of the strings.

    I am seeing in email notifications some texts which I am not able to translate. Or, I just do not know how… 😀

    For instance, the one which includes the tracking number for the shipped status. Where is that located?

    Hi there,

    you might need to dig a little deeper within the settings 🙂 This specific string might be adjusted on a per shipping provider base – See Germanized > shipments > shipping provider.

    Hi,

    Yes. I missed that part. I guess that dark reader tricked me. Thanks. 🙂

    However, I still can not find these headings in the email:

    • “Tracking:”
    • “Shipment goes to:”
    • “Details to your Shipment”

    In the table which contains all the items (shipment content), I am missing translation for the folowing headers:

    • “Product”
    • “Quantity”

    And last, I can not find the translation for “Track your shipment” button.

    This time also, Loco translate detected all the strings, I translated them, but that change is not visible.

    Hi there,

    these are strings from the language file – you’ll need to check your translations and whether your loco translations do really override them accordingly. You might find the original language file within wp-content/languages/plugins/woocommerce-germanized... and the fallback within wp-content/plugins/woocommerce-germanized/i18n/. Germanized has no effect on how WP loads translations.

    Hi,

    Thanks for helping out. I will take a look and see what is going on. I will also ask loco, maybe they know something I do not know.

    If this does not work with loco, what would be your suggestion? Is there any other translation plugin which could get the job done?

    Hi again,

    I checked the paths you shared.

    So, under wp-content/languages/plugins/ I am not seeing anything named woocommerce-germanized. Neither file nor folder.

    And here: wp-content/plugins/woocommerce-germanized/i18n/ there are also no files and folder which contain “germanized” word.

    However, under the i18n folder I am seeing just one another folder named languagesand inside I am seeing this file: woocommerce-germanized.pot

    Does this mean something to you?

    Well then I would advise you to reinstall Germanized. Seems like files are missing. This is what it should look like after a fresh install: https://github.com/vendidero/woocommerce-germanized/tree/master/i18n/languages

    Hi,

    OK. I did that. I cleared the DB as well, so now it looks good; all the files are there.

    However, translations are still not working, but I see all the strings.

    Also, in the Loco this message is generated:

    Additional files found
    This bundle isn’t fully configured, so we don’t know what the following files are for. Click the setup tab to complete the bundle configuration.

    When you open that setup tab, this is showed.

    Does this tell you something?

    Hi there,

    no, I’ve got no idea. Seems like a strange issue with LocoTranslate. There do exist other ways (PoEdit for example) for editing/adding translation files – you might check that out.

    Seems like a strange issue with LocoTranslate

    The unknown extra files are because this plugin contains other plugins. This is not automatically supported because it is not a standard WordPress file layout to have nested plugin directories. You can ignore the warning if you don’t need to work with those files. If you want to configure Loco Translate to understand the layout, follow the links to the documentation.

    Yes, please try this. It’s important to eliminate the file editor as the cause of your problem. Most translation problems are not due to the editor.

    Hi @timwhitlock,

    actually these are not really other plugins as we do replace all the gettextcalls with the woocommerce-germanized text domain. It’s just the same way Woo handles different packages (e.g. woocommerce-admin, woocommerce-blocks) which are included within the core as well. I do not really understand why the LocoTranslate editor is not able to fetch/find them?

    OK. Everything is actually fine. There is just one small catch.

    In order to have correct translations in emails, you, as a back end administrator or shop manager, need to use that exact language as backend interface language.

    I was using English as my backend user language and the global website language was German. So, in that setup whenever I was working with orders, that language “issue” was there.

    Then, I switched my user language to German and I did a test order and the language was correct.

    So, Your user backend language is determining in what language those email parts will be.
