One of the reasons i went with wordpress was because of the great functionality in posting to the blog via email. Including inline images, and attachments is quite a game changer when it comes to quickly updating the blog. I cant tell you what a massive let down it is that this functionality is missing in wordpress proper. Its pretty close to being a dealbreaker in fact.

So far postie is entirely failing to work for me, and I’m almost positive inline pictures will be a no-no.

Part of the problem is that wp.com can control image uploads. With the myriad server types in use on .org installs, it’s harder to know what to use :/

Few years back, I signed up with posterous – specifically for the way thiings got shared there.

I was able to send them an email with all my pics, and it automatically got forwarded to my WP site – worked great for me, posts, pics, etc all worked.

I haven’t used it in quite some time, and I know it’s a lame workaround, but might be something to look in to if you plan to post a lot of pics?

Posterous (at very quick first glance) looks like it might fit the bill!

It’d be a one-off plugin written for your setup 😉

I switched to using the phone apps, since most of the time I need to email, it’s because I’m on le road.
