Email subscribers of updates to blog?

  • I have tried googling for a plugin which will provide registered users with an email of changes (new posts, new pages, updated posts, updated pages, etc) to my blog based on the frequency specified by the registered user (daily, weekly, monthly).

The email would also need to include an option to remove the registered user from receiving updates or change the frequency they receive an update.

The email genererated will then provide a link to the new or changed post/page using the title of the post or page.

    Is there such a plugin?

  • Have you looked at Subscribe2? It seems to come closest to your requirements (not that there’s a ton of subscription plugins out there):

Feedburner.com (Email Option) and Feedblitz.com offer pretty much what you want as well.

Subscribe2 is excellent – I have been using it for a while. The users doesn’t get a choice of frequency, they emails get sent when you update or write a post.

I also have just installed (which might be of interest) subscribe to comments over at

    http://txfx.net/code/wordpress/subscribe-to-comments/

This all seems to work fine for me!

If you are on a slow server/have low bandwidth/have a huge website you probably want to go with other ‘hosted’ solutions like feedburner.

Thanks for the suggestions but I am really after a plugin that can check the database and create a list of changes (new & updated) for a specific period, some posts I update a few times after initially posting to correct or update information which doesn’t necessitate a new post. I don’t want my registered users being pestered with email updates for the same post 3 or 4 times during the week.

Any other suggestions for a suitable plugin?
