 * Hi there,
 * I’ve installed your plugin and it’s got plenty of great options. However, one
   particular thing I am really looking for is email registration process.
 * I don’t want to allow new registered members to access the protected pages until
   they have validated their registration via a link that is send to via email when
   they register.
 * I understand that another technique (within the plugin) is to not allow them
   to set their password and then have a random password generated and sent to them
   via email. However, not exactly what I am looking for as my users would like
   to set their own passwords when they register.
 * Thanks

 * Currently, with the default plugin, the option is to send them a random password.
   As you mentioned, that essentially confirms they’ve provided a valid email address.
   Note that they do not need to stay with the password as it’s sent to them – they
   just need it until they change it.
 * I’m sure you’ve set up a user profile page for the users to update their information.
   This includes a password change form. See this page for more information on the[
   wpmem_profile] shortcode:
    [https://rocketgeek.com/plugins/wp-members/docs/shortcodes/form/](https://rocketgeek.com/plugins/wp-members/docs/shortcodes/form/)
 * Also, the email content is customizable. You can note in the welcome email the
   location of the user profile page and that the user should change their password
   when they log in.
 * I do have, as a sample of the kind of content the premium support site provides,
   a freely available article on how to redirect a user to change their password
   when they first log in. This creates a smooth process for the flow I described:

   [https://rocketgeek.com/filter-hooks/redirect-a-user-on-first-login/](https://rocketgeek.com/filter-hooks/redirect-a-user-on-first-login/)
 * Also on the premium support site, but not freely available like the one above,
   is an article on how to customize a process that sends the user an activation
   link. This process uses the plugin’s moderated registration so that user’s must
   be activated. Using the plugin’s available hooks, it generates an “activation
   key”, sends that to the user, and when they click that link, it activates the
   account (not requiring admin activation).
