Could I kindly ask to confirm that the email notifications are enabled under Zephyr > Settings > Profile Settings?
If it is, could I kindly ask if you could install an email logging plugin, such as https://wordpress.org/plugins/email-log/ temporarily and then create a task that should send an email.
The email log plugin will help to determine if the email is being sent from Zephyr or if there is another problem with the sending. It will also show any errors that occurred during the sending of the email, so it will help to narrow down the issue to find a solution as soon as possible.

The email issue had nothing to do with your plugin.
I installed “WP mail” plugin and all is fine now.
